In response to Italy dominating the musical scene in Europe for centuries, the royal French court of Louis XIV set out on a bold mission: creating a style of music and performance all its own, of uniquely French provenance and disposition. Over the 150 years that followed, France witnessed an explosion of music that explored the gamut of history, mythology, and humanity, setting itself apart from the rest of Europe with inimitable grace and grandeur. Featuring a powerhouse trio of musicians of Canadian and international renown, this concert played on 17th century instruments delves into the intoxicating world of the French Baroque through song, melody, and improvisation.
