Play With A Pro is a two-part workshop for adult amateur musicians to experience working alongside professional musicians.  

Part 1: A day-long workshop on Sunday, January 26th (10am-5:30pm). Each musician receives a 30 minute rehearsal with their pro collaborator, and then a 20 minute coaching session with another pro.  When you are not performing in a coaching or rehearsal, you will be able to observe other coachings and rehearsals.  

Part 2: An evening performance on February 7th (7:00-10:00pm). You will have the opportunity to perform the piece you’ve been working on in front of an audience in a casual, open-mic style event as part of Festival Collines-en-musique (formerly the Hills Winter Music Festival).  

Both the workshop and the performance will happen at La Fab sur Mill (8 Chemin Mill, Chelsea, QC, J9B 1K8).  La Fab sur Mill is an arts centre in a converted church: the performance space has a Steinway Model L grand piano, a professional lighting rig, and seating for up to 100.

There are spots for up to 10 amateur musicians to participate: 5 pianists, and 5 singers.  Anybody over the age of 18 who enjoys playing music but does not do it for a living is eligible.  The pianists will be able to apply to perform with voice (Meghan Lindsay, soprano) or piano duet (Carson Becke).  The pianists will be coached by Carson Becke.  The singers will perform with pianist Carson Becke, and will be coached by Carson or Meghan based on instrument or voice type.  Apply using the form below.

After we have accepted 10 applications, each participant will be put in touch with his/her professional collaborator to decide on repertoire.

The program is free of charge for participants.
