Peintures Sonores

Peintures Sonores is a unique cultural event celebrating the rich artistic heritage of the Outaouais region. The concert is a multidisciplinary initiative that brings together the visual artists of the Chelsea Wakefield Studio Tour and the musicians of Collines-en-musique. The event marks the launch of the Studio Tour, an ongoing annual event designed to showcase the talent and creativity of artists living in the region. At the heart of Peintures Sonores is a convergence of artistic expressions. Two original classical compositions by Carson Becke and Julia MacLaine, specially commissioned for the event, will be performed. These compositions are inspired by the vibrant visual arts presented in the Studio Tour, offering a unique aural interpretation of the artworks on display. Other pieces by Claude Debussy, John Cage, Gabriel Fauré and Samuel Barber (among others) are inspired by the paintings, sculptures and photographs of local artists.  For this performance, the musicians of Collines-en-musique will share the show with the multi-Juno-award-winning instrumental group Esmerine.  Esmerine's performance will include a showing of the short film Symbiosis: The Art of Nature, which was commissioned by Eco Echo in celebration and recognition of the landscape and wildlife that surround us here in the Gatineau Hills.
